Ilhéus to Salvador, with the people who make the coast

Seven days down Bahia's Cacao Coast, from Jorge Amado's Ilhéus to Salvador across the Bay of All Saints. Harvest cacao and turn it into chocolate over a wood fire, paddle mangrove channels to oysters roasted on a beach bonfire, sleep in the middle of a twenty-kilometre beach, and learn your first capoeira steps from the people who never let it die.

The Route of Emotions, São Luís to Jericoacoara

Seven days across Brazil's wild north-east shore, from the tiled streets of São Luís to the barefoot village of Jericoacoara. Swim in rainwater lagoons between white dunes, watch thousands of scarlet ibises come home over the Parnaíba Delta, run empty beaches by 4x4 and ferry, and end in a hammock slung in turquoise water.

Crossing the Lençóis

Three days on foot across Brazil's white-sand sea

The travessia: three days walking straight across the Lençóis Maranhenses, Santo Amaro to Atins, where no vehicle is allowed to follow. Set out by headlamp, watch sunrise turn the dunes pink, swim in lagoons no day trip reaches, and sleep in hammocks with the families of the two oases marooned in the sand.

Through the Heart of the Pantanal

An expedition cruise through the land of the jaguar

Eight days aboard a small expedition ship through the wild, rarely traveled western Pantanal, from Cáceres and the strictly protected Taiamã reserve, past the mountains of the Serra do Amolar, to the famous jaguars of Porto Jofre. Private cabins, your own safari boat, and a river world almost no one else reaches.

Jaguars and cowboys along the Rio Paraguai

Six days deep in the far west of the Pantanal, where boat safaris in the strictly protected Taiamã reserve give way to horseback and jeep safaris in the Parque do Guirá, the least explored corner of the entire wetland. Two worlds, the river people of the floods and the cowboys of the dry plains, joined by one wild rhythm.
